 Marketplace Ministry Ideas and Resources

This webpage has been developed as a tool to help your leadership team engage marketplace leaders
within your church body for kingdom business. The ideas that are contained on this page are different ways to
launch a ministry to your marketplace leaders or enhance what you are already doing.

Create a Business Ministry Leadership Team
  • One of the most significant steps you can take toward Marketplace Ministry is to develop a Marketplace Ministry Leadership Team.
  • This core group of three to five business leaders will provide oversight to this ministry and should be hand picked by executive church leadership.
  • This team will help decide on and execute business ministry options, including business directory promotion, business luncheons, Christian Roundtable Groups, etc.
  • Christians in Business is eager to help you identify, train and develop this team for ministry.

Responsive and Interactive Ideas
  • Send a weekly email to all business leaders to encourage and challenge them. This small investment of time and resources will pay huge dividends as business leaders come to understand that you are interested in what they do 40-60 hours per week, and not just what they can do for the church each weekend. Christians In Business makes this simple by providing an email option through the portal as well as a turn-key weekly email newsletter.  Click Here to See Examples
  • Establish a monthly or quarterly business  luncheon where business leaders can come together and interact with each other. The pastor or designated leader can speak or have a guest speaker.
  • Have one pastor or lay leader visit and pray for each business leaders in the church as a way to show your interest in what they do. During this visit you may ask the business leader to introduce you to their business neighbors and to ask to pray for their business. It is also possible to stop at a couple businesses each day, introduce yourself and tell them that you have made it your goal to pray for each business owner in the city this year, and offer to pray a prayer of blessing over their business. In our experience, no-one says no to a prayer of blessing.
  • Have a Business/Jobs Fair once or twice a year to let the church body interact with the business leaders within the church body.
  • Put a kiosk in a common area to highlight a business leader each week. This could be a great way for a business leader to give something away that will benefit someone who visits the kiosk.
  • Hire a business pastor that can focus all of his/her energy on building up, praying for, encouraging and ministering to the business leaders in the church as well as reaching out to prospective business leaders in the community.
  • Have an Electronic Bulletin Board in the commons area to show the business leaders in the church.
